My own children have been through the break up of myself and their dad, so I asked them to contribute to this section.
We have gathered together useful stuff that is aimed at children and young adults (rather than just to their parents) and a video - though parents would do well to check out what's below......
I asked my kids to come up with ten sets of advice for parents who don't want to mess their kids up through the break up process. Together we came up with The Ten Commandments......
Only Dads have a blog dedicated to the stories of children who have experienced divorce, and all contributions are welcome. Have a look at the first post here.......
A young woman looks back at how her parents' divorce when she was 9 has affected her......
Libby went through the divorce of her parents and wrote a book about surviving the process which you can buy here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Help-Hope-Happiness-Save-Children/dp/1905517025

If you're parents are using you as 'weapons' in a war of break up, here is a powerful poem that might just shake them up a bit and help them see the error of their ways:

The UK kids are fed up with having their lives mucked about by fighting parents who don't know how to break-up and divorce without arguing and being horrible. It's time for the parents to listen to the children, and break up without all that aggro.
As well as signing the online petition here: http://www.gopetition.co.uk/online/33855.html - feel free to post your thoughts on our Facebook page here....
If you have any useful advice for other kids please share that with us. You don't have to give your name if you don't want to. You might be helping someone else by sharing your experiences.

For me it was great to have such a positive outcome from what had been such a painful time - I wanted very much to help others in a similar situation and for every book sold a donation is made to the charity Save the Children, so that even more children are helped throughout the world.
It can seem the most difficult time of your life and finding ways to cope is an essential part of ensuring you do not become damaged by the process. The bbc also used my advice in their cbbc documentary "The Worst Thing Ever" so if you have young children or siblings, this is still available on the website and might help them to understand that they are not the only ones having to deal with divorce.
Take care of yourselves and each other,
Libby
